About ScienceQuest

96 calculators, 56 interactive simulators, 54 visualisers, 6 reference tables and 6 practice sets across 7 subjects, free to use with no account, built on the principle that a tool which only gives you an answer is not much use.

An independent project

ScienceQuest is an independent project. It is not part of a university, a publisher or an exam board, and it is not reviewed or endorsed by one. Everything on the site is free to use, and it stays free by showing advertising from Google, as the privacy notice sets out. Embedded tools carry no advertising at all.

Every tool runs in your browser. There are no accounts, and nothing you type is uploaded for processing.

Why this exists

Most science calculators online return a number and nothing else. That is the least useful part. If the number disagrees with the one you worked out by hand, a bare answer tells you nothing about which of you is wrong, or where. So most calculators here show the substitution with your own values in it: the actual arithmetic, not a generic formula. That is the line you can compare against your own working to find the mistake.

The same reasoning drives the rest of the design. Units are converted internally so you can mix atmospheres with millilitres. Assumptions are stated rather than buried, because a formula applied outside its range gives a confident wrong answer. Where a calculation has a common failure mode, the page says so plainly.

How the tools are kept honest

Every calculator and simulator names the source of its equation, directly under it. Constants follow the 2019 SI and CODATA 2022, and atomic weights are the IUPAC CIAAW 2024 values. The calculations are held to known values by automated tests, and a correction comes with a test that stops the same error returning. The editorial policy sets out the whole process, including what it does not cover.

What these tools are not

They are teaching and bench tools, not certified instruments. Nothing here should be the sole basis for a clinical, structural or safety decision, and each clinical calculator says so beside the tool. Some calculations make a simplifying assumption: an ideal gas, a thin lens, complete dissociation, no air resistance. Where that happens the assumption is stated on the page, and it is your call whether it holds for your case.

There are also no invented ratings anywhere on this site. You will not find a star count or a review total in the structured data, because there are no reviews, and fabricating them is both a policy violation and a lie about the thing you are being asked to trust.

Using what you find here

Any tool marked as embeddable can be put on a lesson page or a course site with the snippet on Embed a tool. Images the site generates are free to reuse under CC BY 4.0 with credit and a link, as the image licence explains. The explanations themselves are not, and the terms of use say what may be copied.

Corrections and contact

If a result looks wrong, it might be. Every tool page has a Report an error link that opens an email with the page address filled in, and the corrections policy says what happens next. For anything else, write to hello@sciencequest.in or see the contact page.
